Open Thread for April 2025

Quick update: I will be moving returning to the San Francisco Bay Area for at least April-July 2025, perhaps longer.

Vitalist Bay

I am looking forward to Vitalist Bay, the biggest life extension and bio/acc event in the world to date. It will be in Berkeley and will run from Apr 4-May 29.

The first conference is Unlimited Health (Apr 5-7). If you are a paying subscriber, plan to be in the SF Bay Area, and would likely to see some of the talks - names include Irina Conboy (UCB Bioengineering), Parmita Mishra (Precigenetics), Kian Sadeghi (CEO of Nucleus) - I will be happy to give away 2 guest codes.

Misc

I will update this post with notable world news and articles from the past month once I’m done traveling tomorrow. (Sadly not enough time between now and the plane leaving to finish this). TLDR; Trump’s tariffs are deranged and incompatible even with what theorists of protectionism like Friedrich List have counseled. But the US is in thrall to this guy and its self-righting mechanisms appear broken. I really think my Trumpism: Can’t Get Fooled Again post has been vindicated across the board, even if I say so myself. But at this point it deserves a standalone longread.

On a broader note I have a vast number of post outlines and drafts that I will soon have the time to start working down.
